- As Jesus’ Mission was to bring hope to the poor and since the OMI charism is to serve the most abandoned, we in Japan also want to walk in that direction. We seek out those who cry out for salvation in Japan, wherever they are. We conceive this vision to be done in community, in communion with God, with our brother Oblates, Church and Society.
- We shall be ministering to: The migrants, The youth, Social problems and Advocacy.

  We are “OBLATES”. That means, missionaries totally given, unconditionally and without return, to the God to whom we already belong and to the brothers and sisters to whom we are sent. CONSECRATED LIFE is the “frame” within which we live our oblation. Oblation means that radical dedication, without reservation, to the work of Christ, the fulfillment of His mission. Together in community we dedicate our lives to build up the family of God’s children — and thus they help realize the prayer of Jesus: “That all may be one.”

A Thought for Today

“Like Mary Magdalene, we know Jesus well. We know Jesus lives in us and in others. Yet we are not always consciously aware of Jesus’ presence in our lives. But occasionally we have a moment, as Mary Magdalene did, when Jesus makes us aware of His presence. It may occur while we are praying, but it may also happen while we are quietly alone observing nature, walking, reading, or even in the midst of a busy day. We followers of Jesus know His voice. We know His touch. We recognize Jesus. Sometimes it is good to remember such moments, for they can be a source of strength for us.”

An Oblate Reflection

“Each act in life is an occasion for personal encounter with the Lord, who through us gives himself to others and through others gives himself to us.

While maintaining within ourselves an atmosphere of silence and inner peace, we seek his presence in the hearts of the people and in the events of daily life as well as in the Word of God, in the sacraments and in prayer.

We are pilgrims, walking with Jesus in faith, hope and love.”

Prayer to Mary to free us from this terrible pandemic

We shall always look on her as our mother. In the joys of our missionary life, we feel close to her, who is the Other of Mercy. (OMI Rule of Life, 10)

St. Eugne sought Mary’s intercession during every cholera epidemic during his time. Following his example, as a Mazenodian Family we turn to Mary in this time of need, united in prayer with Pope Leo XIV all around the world:

We fly to your protection, O Holy Mother of God

In the present tragic situation, when the whole world is prey to suffering and anxiety, we fly to you, Mother of God and our Mother, and seek refuge under your protection.

Virgin Mary, turn your merciful eyes towards us amid this coronavirus pandemic and the cholera spreading in Africa. Comfort those who are distraught and mourn their loved ones who have died and at times are buried in a way that grieves them deeply. Be close to those who are concerned for their loved ones who are sick and who, in order to prevent the spread of these diseases, cannot be close to them. Fill with hope those who are troubled by the uncertainty of the future and the consequences for the economy and employment.

Mother of God and our Mother, pray for us to God, the Father of mercies, that these great sufferings may end and that hope and peace may dawn anew. Plead with your divine Son, as you did at Cana, so that the families of the sick and victims be comforted, and their hearts be opened to confidence and trust.

Protect those doctors, nurses, health workers, and volunteers who are on the front line of this emergency and are risking their lives to save others. Support their heroic effort and grant them strength, generosity, and continued health.

May, Consolation of the afflicted, embrace all your children in distress and pray that God will stretch out his all-powerful hand and free us from these terrible pandemics so that life can serenely resume its normal course.

To you, who shine on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope, do we entrust ourselves, O Clement, O Loving, O Sweet Virgin Mary. Amen
